SilverDollar the Lipizzaner vs. DarkDiamond the Quarter Horse

The other day I was out trying to get some new high scores with my black Quarter horse, DarkDiamond. After a few races in Moorland, I did not seem to be having much luck; I had not even gotten one new high score! I then realized that the last horse I had run these races with was my (at the time) level 14 Lipizanner, SilverDollar. This intrigues me and I decided to put these horses to the test to find out if my Lipizanner really was faster than my Quarter horse.

First I started off with the Moorland pole-bending race. As I had predicted, SilverDollar won with a time of 33.74 seconds, while

DarkDiamond trailed behind with a time of 34.40. With only 0.66 seconds separating the two horses, I knew that they were basically the same speed throughout this race.

The next race to try was the Jorvik Stables elite jumping competition. DarkDiamond took this race home with a time of 1 minute 9.07 seconds. SilverDollar trailed by 1.53 seconds with a time of 1 minute 10.6 seconds. This time gap seemed to be more significant than the first race. The Jorvik Stables

elite jumping competition has many jumps, and I assume there are at least 10 jumps. This leads me to believe that the Quarter horse is a faster jumper than the Lipizanner.

The final race of the day took us all the way up to Valedale Lake. SilverDollar won this time with a time of 1 minute and 44.67 seconds. DarkDiamond only trailed by 0.75 seconds with a time of 1 minute and 45.42 seconds. This also

Valedale Lake Race

leads me to believe that DarkDiamond is a faster jumper, and that jumps hinder SilverDollar’s speed. The Valedale Lake race does not have many jumps and is mostly flat.

SilverDollar the Lipizzaner takes home the win!

I believe that both horses are very different. I still stand by my opinion that the Quarter horse model jumps over obstacles faster than the Lipizanner horse, and that the Lipizanner horse is genrally faster when it comes to flat work. Even by just looking at SilverDollar, I can tell him back legs are going faster than BlackDiamond’s. Both horses are wonderful racing horses and have amazing potential in all races!
